The Indonesian Platitude

Howdy!

Today I’m gonna introduce you to the Indonesian Platitude!

Indonesia, it’s not only beautiful country which have million beautiful place but also million beautiful cultures ! Beautiful cultures for beautiful people in beautiful country, Indonesia! As you may be know, Indonesian people famous for their friendly attitude. Let’s see what I have in Indonesian Plattitude!

1.      ASKING QUESTION THAT ALREADY CERTAIN.

Asking Questing that already Certain? You found it bothering? Well, Indonesian found it as greeting.

Let’s say, I’m a student, the school is over and it’s time to go home. Suddenly, I met one of my neighbor. In Indonesia, your neighbor will say  “Baru pulang sekolah, ya?” . Yes. Right! I know you knew. I’m still wearing my uniform and this is the way I got home. The answer already certain. You already know the answer too. But hey! It’s Indonesia! Take it as greeting! You just need to smile and say “iya,bu.” – if your neightbor is female.

2.      “LAGI NGAPAIN?”

Lagi Ngapain – what are you doin’? Well, you have an eyes and you can see what am I doin’ right now. But Hey! It’s Indonesian! If some Indonesian ask you this question, it’s mean that they want to have convertation with you. Take it easy! What you need is smile and answer the question the way you are.

3.       “ANGGAP SAJA RUMAH SENDIRI”

Anggap saja rumah sendiri – take it as this is your own home. You found it funny? Yes! Right! But this is the way Indonesian want you to feel confortable when you are visit their home. But still, don’t take it too seriously. You still need the manner! Be a good guest and don’t forget to smile. :)

4.      OFFERING FOOD  

Visit some Indonesian house for the first time? Don’t worry be happy! Lol. I mean, don’t worry starving there. We – Indonesian have manner to serve our guest better! We will offering you many kind of food! From snack into heavy meal.  Don’t think you will not eat anything there, because Indonesian will offering you several kind of food and drink if they didn’t see you touch anything there. The famous sentence would be :  “Ayo dimakan makanannya”, “Ambil saja, nggak apa-apa”, “Ayo dicicipi dulu dong makanannya.” and many things else.

5.      “MAAF YA MEREPOTKAN”

Well, you’ll heard this phrase when Indonesian asked some kind of help. They feelin wrong, because bother your time and your effort to help em’, so they will saying “ Maaf ya merepotkan.” – or in english, “sorry to cause a fuse.” – “sorry to make difficulities for you” etc.
