Common Facts : All about Sundanese!

Sundanese?

Raise your hand whose don’t know about Sundanese?
Ok. Sundanese or we say it ‘orang Sunda’ are people who live mostly in West Java. Ok, le’ts count it down!

1. Fair Skinned
The characteristic of Sundanese, First, There are fair skinned. Mostly of the pure Sundanese, Fair Skinned! And if you were sharp, you can find the similiarity of Sundanese ; they resemblance to each other. Okay, take Syahrini and Syahrul Gunawan as the sample. Do you know em’? They pretty popular in Indonesia. You can ask google for their faces and see, the sundanese have a kind of similiarity. Let’s say the shape of their nose J it’s a little bit flat-nosed, like a cat right :D Cute somehow!
Sundanese very popular with their beauties and handsomeness. Mostly of em have a sweet cute smile. Try to catch one!

2. F = P
This is truly bad habits of em! Bad but funny somehow. LOL.
Example :
“Matiin tipinya!”  - “turn off the television!”
The original word for tipi is tv (television). But no matter what you say, they we’ll always call it “tipi”. LOL
Another famous example :
“Kata siapa orang sunda gak bisa ngomong F? Pitnah ikh!”
If you understood, you’ll laugh. The original word is Fitnah, but they spell it as pitnah. The definition of fitnah is when you speak evil of something or someone. Indonesian call it Fitnah , sundanese call it Pitnah. They both refers into the same word tho~~

3. Famous Affix ever :  "Teh", "Mah",”Atuh”
Into every sentences they said, you coulda find the affix of ‘teh' or ‘mah’. It’s kinda famous one! Even a milk company got em into their ads. I’ll illustrate it by word.
They were two cute children. One of em, had a milk in his hand. And the other one asked.
Angga    : “Itu apa?”  - (what is that?)
Asep      :“Ini teh susu.”  - (This is a bottle of milk) ,
Angga    : (look confused) “ Itu teh?atau susu?” (so, that’s a tea? Or a milk? )
Asep      : “Ini mah susu atuh!” (this is a milk)

What Asep means “This is a bottle of milk” but the affix of “teh” , make it have double definitions for those who don’t know about affix ‘teh’ in Sundanese.  First, it’s a milk. Second it’s a tea-milk.
Confusing right? LOL.

4. Friendly
Sundanese famous with their toning down style of speaking. Their act gentle and friendly, wether you are stranger or not.  Even you are harsh, unfriendly, or anything that not really comfortable to be with, they’ll be gentle and friendly . Even tho, in the back of your back they’ll sneering. LOL. But don’t get em’ wrong, mostly of em’ are a kind people J

But Sundanese a little bit scary when they are mad. Let’s compare it.

When they are friendly, "Neng atos emam? hayu atuh geura emam bisi geuring" (have you ate? Let’s eat, I worry you’ll be sick.)
When they are mad,  "Ari sia buru atuh jajablog kaditu, ehh ari maneh teh teu sien paeh lain? dikarunyaan teh!” (have you ate? Let’s eat! You wanna starve to death?)
If I did the translation, it’s a little bit different. But actually, it has a same meaning. And If you do understood about Sundanese, you’ll find the mad version is crazy! LOL

5. One Meaning , Million Words.

Okay, sundanese people must be proud with their million words for one meaning. You, who want to learn Sundanese must be a genius! Take a look!
"Emam" = this word for the elder, or to the younger (so they’ll well mannered when speaking to the elder)
"Tuang" = this word for those who in line with your age.
"Dahar"= use this word for the same age, a little bit harsh
"Nyatu"= this word is harsh. They use it to the animal.  Don’t try to use this word for the elder even to those whose same age with you. They’ll be unpleasean with you.
"Jajablok"=this word, truly harsh!
That five word above, refer into the same meaning, that’s : makan (eat) .

Ok. I think that’s all. I wonder what do you think about the Sundanese’ Common Facts above. Please gimme coment bellow and If you found it useful please share it with credits J
